You *should* be able to run it. The excess amp draw is likely to dim all of your other lights, though. The stock bulb is more than sufficient for most riding conditions. If you don't like the light picture you get, try re-aiming your headlight first. Aiming it up a little bit will enable the beam to travel farther before contacting its terminal point.
